C. STANLEY HUNTERTON
Mr. Hunterton was first selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America in 2005. The May, 2003 issue of Corporate Counsel named Mr. Hunterton one of the top business litigators in Nevada. In October, 1998, the Nevada Business Journal named himthe best white collar crime lawyer in Nevada.
These cross-over accolades reflect the quality and diversity of his experience and practice.
Mr. Hunterton devotes the majority of his practice to large scale business and criminal litigation. He began his career as a Special Attorney with the United States Department of Justice, Organized Crime Strike Force, in Detroit. In 1978 he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and continued working with the Justice Department Strike Force. He was Deputy Chief Counsel to the Presidents Commission on Organized Crime in Washington, DC during 1984-1985. In the fall of 1985, Mr. Hunterton began private practice in Las Vegas.
His practice includes white-collar criminal defense, business related litigation, banking, boxing, securities, gaming, medical practice, and property development.
During 2002-2003 Mr. Hunterton also served as General Counsel to Sierra Pacific Resources, a Fortune 500 Company and the holdings company for Nevada’s two largest electric utilities.
His white collar crime practice has involved Medicare fraud, banking, securities, and currency violations as well as tax fraud. Stan is also a member of the panel of attorneys in Las Vegas who accept representation of indigent defendants charged in federal court.
Mr. Hunterton is a Master in the Nevada Inns of Court, and serves on the Nevada State Committee of the American College of Trial Lawyers. In addition, Mr. Hunterton was a charter member of the Standing Committee on Judicial Ethics and Election Practices, which maintains ethical election practices by state judicial candidates and advises sitting judges on ethical matters. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the William S. Boyd School of Law.
